Susan D. Menke graduated from Longview High School and Stephen F. Austin State University where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority and involved with Campus Crusade for Christ.  She attributes much of her success to qualities she was taught early on by a woman she worked for in college.  “Susie, never sit idle and make every moment count.  Never do tomorrow what you can do today.”  She still follows that advice.

    Upon graduation, Susan accepted a teaching position at the Clear Creek ISD and later transferred to Cypress Fairbanks ISD.  She leased apartments at “The Oaks of Woodlake” on the weekends, to bring in extra money.  Gary Levering, owner of “The Oaks of Woodlake,” recognized that she leased more apartments than anyone else and suggested she work in the real estate business full time. So, Susan went back to school and earned her real estate degree.

     She began her new career working for Vallone and Associates in the afternoons while working in the Kindergarten department at Kinkaid, a private school in Houston, in the mornings.  This arrangement was short-lived, as Susan soon sold a large tract of land to a developer, Gene Branscome, and went into real estate full time.

     In 1982, Susan formed her own company and continued to use her strong work ethic and determination to become the best in her field.   In 1987, Alvin Lubetkin, CEO of Oshman’s Sporting Goods, hired her as Director of Real Estate for Oshman’s.  This proved to be a wonderful opportunity and allowed Susan to travel extensively across the United States, make valuable contacts and negotiate leases on behalf of Oshman’s.  She left Oshman’s in 1992 and went back to buying and selling real estate for her own firm, Susan Menke Real Estate. The Houston Business Journal has consistently named Susan a “Heavy Hitter” due to her large volume of real estate sales.

      Some of her sales have included land deals that became such beautiful communities as Lakes of Avalon, Woodbridge, The Meadowbrook Farms Golf Course, Laurel Oaks, Lake Point, Seven Meadows, Grayson Lakes, Silver Ranch, Falcon Ranch, Cinco Southwest, and Sienna Plantation.

     Commercial sales have included multiple commercial reserves in Houston’s leading master-planned communities, prominent land parcels along The Katy Freeway, Interstate 45, as well as school, multi-family and office sites throughout the area.  Other transactions include the 2,000 acre Houston Executive Airport in West Houston.

    Although Susan specializes in land, she also sells and buys income producing properties such as shopping centers, office buildings, apartments and hotels.

     Susan is grateful to have had the privilege to work with such visionary companies as Newland Communities, Terrabrook, Trendmaker, Ryland Homes, Landmark Industries, Ellis Management, Hettig Kahn Companies, Friendswood Development, Ersa Grae Corporation, Avanti Properties Group, Centrefund of Canada, Land Tejas, Regent Properties and local, national and international investors looking for opportunities in
Houston.

     Additionally, she has been fortunate to work with The Honorable Robert A. Mosbacher, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, over a period of 15 years.

     She is licensed in Texas and California and lends her knowledge and expertise to ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) and ULI (Urban Land Institute) where she serves as a member of the Suburban Development Committee

    Susan’s highest passion is Christian ministry through teaching and serving others through her local church and everyday life.  She was a member for 5 years of the Republican Senatorial Trust, meeting with United States Senators 4 times a year to discuss issues that concern all Americans.  Supporting our men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan is another ministry Susan is involved in by sending packages of food, supplies, gifts for the children and cards.
